This piece of asphalt has been made with a red body, and black basalt aggrigate has been added. This is to emulate the look of the red-jasper chip foot-paths. It is my understanding that the council doesn't want to use the red chip from Karamuramu Island, because they would be supporting the destruction of Auckland's islands. So these combinations turn up in place of the red chip (However, the council still uses the red chip in heritage areas).

K' Road, Auckland. White [quartz] chip in a dark-grey cement. This is the corner of a larger tile.
This paving runs from the K'Rd over bridge, to Symonds Street.

This is a piece of old Queen Street, Auckland (2003). It is comprised of red-chip from Karamuramu Island, and the cement that has been used has been coloured slightly with a red-oxide to compliment the stone.

This is the first time I have compiled my rock collection, this image shows what I could fit on to the table. My collecting criteria has changed since I started collecting. It used to be about crystals, fossils and semi-precious stones. My collection now is made up of volcanic rocks, concrete conglomerates, footpath fragments, social fragments and fakes.
Certain friends, after showing them my collection, have gifted me stones from their own collections. Or have brought stones back from their overseas trips.
